The essay Rome: A Laboratory of Unexpected Nature aims to analyse an evocative urban territory, in which nature has historically demonstrated how to interact with the built environment in an autonomous and synergistic way. Rome as a city has always fed on a constant process of mutation and hybridization between different and heterogeneous realities, between plant and mineral elements. Through the field of the unfinished, the ephemeral, the informal, the unexpected, Rome is the place of perpetual mixture, able to overcome the boundaries between city and nature.

Abstract

The essay Rome: A Laboratory of Unexpected Nature aims to analyse an evocative urban territory, in which nature has historically demonstrated how to interact with the built environment in an autonomous and synergistic way. Rome as a city has always fed on a constant process of mutation and hybridization between different and heterogeneous realities, between plant and mineral elements. Through the field of the unfinished, the ephemeral, the informal, the unexpected, Rome is the place of perpetual mixture, able to overcome the boundaries between city and nature.
